Wake-up Call (draft)

Pearl-of-the-orient, home to beautiful white-sand beaches and a place where everybody is happy, these are mere comments about our own beloved country, Philippines. It is of great honor to be a Filipino. For in this country History has been made. Although the beauty of a country lasts, recent events wretch and little by little tore our country into pieces.

Graft, Corruption and Poverty are examples of the unending cycle of problems which deliberately affect our country’s reputation. Before, men would indeed bow down to us as if we are the greatest of them all. Now those men, who bowed down to us, are the ones who soar high up in the sky. So high that it makes it hard for us to see how did they do it. Don’t you envy them? I for one envy them because I also want to fly like them. Fly up in the sky as free as an eagle. Even though some may think it is easy to fly like them, they thought wrong. How can we fly like the others if our own leaders are fighting over one another, bearing false witness to their competitors just to make the public see that they are a better person at the position. These leaders only think of having a higher salary. As a reaction to the wrong doings these men make, people subject to rallying. For some reason, those people who are rallying are the ones responsible for voting these officials. As they say, they had been double crossed, fooled and used. They didn’t know before that if the government is ignorant, reckless and corrupt it is because the people tolerated such things.

But would we allow these past mistakes still divest us of our dreams? The answer is easy, NO! No! We won’t be affected anymore. No! We won’t let corruption still delude the minds of our upcoming young and talented children. Children who I know will be the leaders who will uplift our nation. Now is the time to move and act right. Now is the time to prove other countries that even though we crashed to the ground we still have the courage and eagerness to come up to a higher place. Now is the time to show our fellow Filipinos abroad that they don’t need to suffer foreign discriminations anymore.

To accomplish these things, we need the help of the parents. The parents are the ones who must teach their children values. Values that would help make the lives of their children be a fruitful one. Values that our ever-powerful and most gracious God once told and reiterated to his disciples and the people he meets. The will of the people must be strong. We should be determined to change the fate of our pitiful country. I know that one day our country will be looked up once again. I know that one day the next generation of leaders will never repeat the same mistakes our current leaders are doing. I know that one day, my kids and the sons and daughters of my kids will never experience what we, the current generation of achievers, are facing today.

As I conclude this speech, I would like everyone who will read this simple speech know my motto:
“Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return. I will be a leader which will act like dew that would quench this land from its impurities. It is to spare the good traits and blessings. I offer you all this Silent Sacrifice.”

When I look into your eyes, I am nothing but surprised. I know about your past and how it didn't last, How you got hurt, burnt, Abused and used, and i bet your confused. You deserve better, if not always and forever. You said you didn't care, But you couldn't bare, Isn't it such a scare. Let me into your life and Ill show you that I care.
